Description of the position: The Biomedical NMR group at Eindhoven University of Technology plays a prominent role in the development of novel non-invasive Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Spectroscopy (MRS) techniques and their application in cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders and cancer. MRI and MRS are multidisciplinary research areas that bring together expertise from biomedical imaging, physics, chemistry, image analysis and mathematical modeling, with the aim to develop improved diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions. The group strives to translate promising new techniques from the preclinical to the clinical setting, by combining research in animal models with studies in healthy volunteers and human patients. The group has two state-of-the-art high-field animal MR scanners and has access to multimodal imaging facilities, including a whole-body 3.0 Tesla MR scanner, at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven via its collaboration with Philips Research. The team cooperates with many additional academic and industrial partners, both in the Eindhoven area and elsewhere. The post-doctoral scientist will primarily be recruited on the basis of scientific background and reputation and the potential to advance and complement the group’s present research program. We are particularly seeking to recruit a person with the ambition to advance novel MR techniques from the preclinical setting to human use, preferably in relation to our research activities in the cardiovascular and metabolic domain. A background in one of these areas is therefore a bonus. Tasks in Education: The post-doc is expected to contribute to educational programs of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. You will supervise BSc-, MSc- and PhD-students in cooperation with other staff members of the group. Tasks in Research: You should be an excellent and stimulating scientist, who has original ideas and is capable of working in amulti-disciplinary team. You schould develop a high-quality, competitive line of research which high international exposure and reputation. This should lead to publications in high-impact journals and acquisition of external funds for research. Requirements: We are seeking an outstanding young scientist engaged in high impact research. The candidate has considerable experience in a relevant research area, as evidenced by high-impact peerreviewed publications. You should have a PhD in a scientific field relevant to biomedical imaging and should preferably have affinity with both technological and translational aspects of this field. You have the ambition to address the needs for more advanced non-invasive imaging methods to improve the diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. The candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized research line and to contribute to the acquisition of extramural funding. Experience with teaching at the academic level is of additional advantage. Employment conditions We offer: • A challenging job at a dynamic and ambitious university. • The position is for 3 years. • The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU) and amounts initially to at least € 2861 per month (scale 10.4) depending on prior experience. • An attractive package of fringe benefits (including excellent work facilities, end of the year allowance and sport facilities).
